JOB SUMMARY
GBV officer is mainly
responsible for ensuring the best standards and wide dissemination of
professional expertise, skills and knowledge on child rights, safeguarding from
gender-based violence. S/he will responsible with particularly experience in
GBV programming, case management, child protection and safeguarding issues.
Key Responsibilities:
R 1. Planning and Implementation
§ Ensure
the Participatory Planning and effective implementation of GBV initiatives in
close coordination with PC and project team as per the work plan and project
objectives.
§ Providing
day to day technical guidance to team on GBV to the Programme specialized
interventions to ensure standards and procedures are followed.
§ Under
the guidance of PC, work closely with EDCU officials, municipal education
officials, Gender Networks at rural municipalities and schools while
implementing project activities.
§ Work
closely with school head teachers and gender focal teachers to conduct project
activities.
§ Work
closely with community-based organizations, including Community learning center
and plan to conduct training and interaction.
§ Support
in developing training plan, support professionally and technically in
facilitating training sessions to the teachers, students, and other
stakeholders.
§ Support
GBV champions and school authorities in the process of updating SIP
incorporating GBV.
§ Mentor
GBV Champions for planning, implementing and reporting progress of field activities.
§ Supervise
and provide on the spot support for GBV champions, ensuring their efficient and
effective mobilization.
R 2. Management
§ Conducting
training to school’s teacher/HT, students and community leaders to build their
capacity and activate their role in GBV related issues.
§ Developing
awareness raising and staff training programs to raise awareness on GBV.
§ Develop
IEC materials (leaflets, posters, brochures) to raise awareness on GBV in the
wider community.
§ Support
the collection and analysis of sex- and age- disaggregated data to reach the
most marginalized beneficiaries.
§ Ensure
timely completion of planned project activities.
§ Support
PC and implementing team to develop and use standard criteria to identify
project beneficiaries.
§ Work
in close collaboration with the team: Project coordinator, finance officer and
MEAL officer to achieve the set goals.
§ Support
project team to select GBV champions.
§ Support
in the process of implementation through supervising and providing inputs to
GBV champions.
§ Act
as the focal point for child protection, safeguarding, GBV related issues and
establishing CRM at project level.
R 3. Coordination and communication
§ In
close collaboration and coordination with EDCU, Municipality level education
focal point and school authorities’ roll out the project activities.
§ Develop,
maintain, and improve mutual and beneficial relationships with key stakeholders
through regular coordination and frequent communication and advocate for
gender-sensitive programming.
§ Facilitate
community dialogues on promoting safe education environment and gender
inclusive education, with special focus on child rights and safeguard from GBV.
§ Work
closely with schools’ head teachers, female mentors, and Gender Focal Points to
promote safe education environment.
§ Provide
regular follow up and support to GBV champions through meetings, dialogue, and
interactions.
§ Coordinate
and facilitate the process to provide training to GBV champions and project
beneficiaries.
R 4. Monitoring and reporting
§ Coordinate
and facilitate the process and initiate monitoring interventions to achieve
project activities according to the action plan.
§ Document
and report the progress of project activities, challenges/way forward
respecting agreed standards and timeframe.
§ Coordinate
and facilitate the process to disseminate information to target communities.
§ Support
to collect evidences, exemplary practices, real stories to disseminate them to
transfer project learning in a wider context.
§ Closely
monitor the activities of the GBV champions and provide timely feedback to them
for the remedial actions.
§ Support
the assessment team while conducting the baseline, mid line and end line
assessment.
§ Maintain
proper documentation of the project activities and timely upload means of
verifications for each activity carried out in the field.
§ Carry
out regular follow up visits to monitor the progress of the project
implementation.
R 5. GBV, child protection and
safeguarding
§ Act
as the focal point for child protection, safeguarding, GBV related issues and
establishing CRM at project level.
§ Ensure
that child protection cases in targeted schools are reported, referred, and
followed up.
§ Assist
implementation team to set up child protection and referral mechanism in
schools, resource class and or assessment center.
§ Support
implementation team (Big sisters, adult champions) to maintain risk register
from the GBV , child protection and safeguarding points of view.
§ Closely
work with available network to reduce the GBV, child protection and
safeguarding issues in schools and community level.
Qualification and other requirements:
§ Bachelor’s
Degree in Social science, Development studies, Gender/Women studies or Relevant
subjects.
§ At
least two years of experience of working relevant to the functions, preferably
in sector of girls education.
§ Fluent
in English and Nepali both.
§ Fluent
with Microsoft office package..
Essential Skills:
§ Strong
English communication skills required for the role and will be tested at
interview.
§ Ability
to work at pace across multiple work streams.
§ Strong
management and people skills.
§ Excellent
ability to work across cultures, time zones and disciplines with a wide range
of stakeholders.
